Father's Day weekend

It's quite known that ppl put more emphasis on mothers' day than fathers' day, but this year for me, it was equally celebratory. cos i sang for the cantonese service! okayy, it was only one song taht we presented but it was quite exciting. the last i sang for cantonese service was during mothers' day more than 5 years ago. that was w a full band, singing a mandarin song we wrote together. this time was for fathers' day singing a cantonese song that we plucked off some pop album, and it was only acoustic guit accompaniment. but both times my parents were there. so i'm quite fair rite.. hahahaha.

anyway, i was very very very stressed out cos of the song. it's in cantonese! although i chose the song, i didn't choose it w the intention of me singing it, really. so when it's confirmed tat i haf to sing it, i had to learn the song from scratch leh. especially the pronunciation of some of the cantonese words. then there was this line tat i jus couldn't catch. tsk tsk tsk. then i dun like the idea of singin it on my own, but thankfully Regina volunteered to sing along too!

okie, so we were at cantonese service rite.. we were REALLY out of place lor. i mean, the ppl were kinda staring at us, as if we walked into the wrong place like tat. haha. i mean, most of them were like our grandparents' generation, w some of our parents' generation. so we really looked out of place. really. then we sat thru the worship session. u see, they were singing in cantonese, and e lyrics were in chinese characters, so poor bee (who was there jus to help me take photos) couldn't quite understand a word they were singing nor could he read. hahahaha. (so sorry dear, but appreciate u being there.) anyway, it wasn't so bad for me. i mean, i could read the words, so can catch the meaning of hte songs. plus all the training in recognising the pronunciation of cantonese words (from watch nite and this presentation) actually allowed me to sing along leh! hahaha. so proud of myself.

well, the presentation din go smoothly. I MADE A MISTAKE. and the worse thing was tat i din realise i was making a mistake until i heard myself sing. i dunno why i went off leh!! i mean, it was the last chorus, everything was gg well until then. and the line which i made a mistake wasn't that line that i originally had difficulty in. and it was really terrible cos i was singing it on my own so it was super OBVIOUS. urghh. it was only one short line, and tho it was obviously off, i jus made up my own tune n went along anyway, thankfully i managed to get back in tune for the next line. SO EMBARRASING! URGH. but i have made enough mistakes all these years of singing on stage to know tat no matter wat happens, just keep singing. so i kept singing lor. hafta sing in my embarrassment leh. urgh. that spoiled my nite. humph. really. bee was kind enof to say that from his pt of view, it jus sounded like i sang the wrong lyrics and "gabra" a bit la, but i know it wasnt a wrong lyrics kinda thing. i went off. off. off!!!! hopefully most ppl would think it tat way too. so not tat embarrassing. but i still think it'll be wise to lay low for a while..

mummy n daddy din say anythin abt the performance when i went home tho. thankfully. it was as if nothing happened, not even the song happened. haha. abit disappointed tat they din say anythin, but well, maybe it's better this way. or else i'll hafta suffer another embarrassment talking abt it.

sunday was actual father's day so we went to this korean restaurant at Far East for dinner. thankfully i booked, otherwise there'll be no space. anyway, i chose Korean cos i wanted to let mummy n daddy try the food tat i had ate during my stay in Korea. but well, i din get a chance to really tell them tat la. oh well. but the food's not bad there, and the set menu for 4 ppl that we ordered was too much for us. i mean, there were 5 adults and 2 kids la,but we cannot finish. not all the food was nice, but the samgyetang which was the ginseng chicken soup was quite nice (tho Jean said tat the crystal jade one's nicer, but i cant compare cos i haven't tried tat, but this was better than the one i had in Korea leh), and so was the bbq. the bibimbap was quite nice too. the sauteed pork w cabbage thingy wasn't to my liking cos the pork taste was too strong, so kor bbqed tat too. haha. generally the complimentary side dishes were all tasty, but too bad they din refill the dishes. think this restaurant doesn't refill the side dishes, which was strange cos in Korea, almost every restaurant or eatery we went to refilled our side dishes. oh well. and i heard the Korean restaurant at East Coast also refills the dishes. oh well.
