the meaning of Ms

i just found out the meaning of Ms -- Miss or Mrs. well, i went online to sign up for this travel insurance thingy, and i was required to choose a salutation for my name. I didn't have the patience to scroll down the list (there were so many salutations, including Captain, Colonel etc), but i caught a glimpse of 'Ms'. So i simply clicked on it. later the confirmation printout made me realise i had chosen this salutation that's usually used by married women who wants to retain their maiden name. sigh. now they muz think i'm married. stupid girl.
