my very personal views

it's polling day! and i've already cast my vote. but i've wanted to blog abit abt my views on this very happening election, so here it is. just random thoughts here and there. (note: if u're sick to ur neck over all the election hype as i almost am, pls skip this post!)

i believe in being rational as a voter. emotional stuff like crying, esp when one after another candidate cries, really loses its effect on me.

no matter what party the candidates are from, they have the same motive. we all need to look beneath their actions in these 2 weeks.

candidates should just focus on the issues, not tearing down other ppl. can u imagine if our church's ABM elections are like that? digging out dirty secrets and scandals are the responsibility of the paparazzi, no? u lose respect from voters like us whenever u try to put another person down.

Hougang is not a slum, really. have u even seen a real slum before?

I worry for my country's security if NS is cut down to 1.5 years. i'm already worried now, please don't make them more...

social media is biased towards opposition. it's all over facebook and twitter. then again, those ppl who are for the ruling party aren't making much noise. or maybe the rest are just apathetic. maybe the mainstream media is biased the other way too.

the fact that we use the word "opposition" is already politically slanted.

if it's up to me, all candidates should already be living in the constituency they're running for BEFORE the elections.

if Nicole Seah is really so good, why not send her to run for SMC? why hide behind the others in GRC, just like TPL?

i have no doubt that if NS and TPL stand for election head-on, NS will win. She's articulate, carries herself well and has immense support by youngsters. not to mention that a pretty PHOTO helps. As for TPL, i think the fact that she is married to someone much older who has a wide network of connections, already puts her in a bad light. we wanna believe in a fair and meritocratic society, so anyone who has a hint of going against that system (whether it really is or not) upsets people. never mind that she has 7 years of grassroots volunteerism experience, never mind that she was in young PAP (i think). the perception already puts her in disadvantage. that being said, i won't vote for either of them.

My heart goes out to Mr George Yeo.

I have deep respect for Mr Chiam and Mr Low. they've laboured for their cause and passion and stuck by their beliefs. and more importantly, they've stuck by Singapore all these years.

i like the rustic feel of Potong Pasir.

if the opposition forms the government one day, does it mean that the IRs will be shut down, ERP torn down, COV banned, COE system abolished, and GST removed immediately?

i really don't like to be handed out goodies and see upgrading stuff happen only when election draws near. we're really not that blind u noe..

i think i'm living quite a comfortable life right now, so i can't quite empathise with what some ppl are saying about oppression happening here. my only issue is with the very open policy on foreigners.

i'll vote for u if u can raise the social service sector pay by 100%.
