caught a few episodes of this competition on channel 8 lately. thought it was quite a good show that brings awareness to this beautiful language. gives secondary school students the opportunity to learn too. However, i'm really really really disappointed that most of the students in the competition seem to be from China or perhaps born locally to China-born parents. i'm not discriminating against them but i feel that if the purpose of the show is to help students improve their grasp of the language, then perhaps getting other students whose first first first language isn't mandarin would be a better idea. i really applaud those non-Chinaborned students who participated in the competition. Thumbs up for having to compete against the others who have an obvious advantage over them. My grasp of the language is really quite good for a locally borned and bred girl, but even i don't stand a chance against those other students. really hope to see more shows that are catered to our language level.
